Historical Place Rankala
HISTORY OF RANKALA:-
Prior to the century, this historical place was just a stone quarry. in earthquake which took place sometime in the 9th century. some natural structural change took place in the quarry. water stated accumulated in this quarry due to opening the underground source. this accumulated water is today's Rankala lake. This historical lake has a temple with very big Nandi.
ABOUT RANKALA
- Shalini palace situated in the western site of Rankala
- Sandhya Math is situated in the eastern site of Rankala
- Nandi Mandir is situated in the north site of Rankala
- Natural park and khan is situated south of Rankala
RANKALA CURRENT ATTRACTION:-
The surrounded covered by a garden and the bhelpuri stalls and Ragda mouth watering snakes etc. Recently some places covered by the hotels.
today the lake is facing the problem of sewage pollution due to the discharge of nullahs from residential areas nearby. the occurrence of algae species the last three years has led concern in mind rankala lovers in the city. lake is turning green since 2011 in every august as this year also.KMC (kolhapur muncipal carporation) is striving hard to coupe up with eutrophication. The problem of pollution is aggravted by visitors as they through wastes into the lake.
